In this interactive session,
you will learn about your own conscious or unconscious biases toward people
with different cultural backgrounds. You will learn to
identify key cultural principles that
most impact cross-cultural negotiations. Through
role-playing and debriefing
real-life situations in India and China, you will learn about key
cultural differences in legal systems,
attitudes toward contracts, handling conflict,
negotiating, and business
relationships, in order to minimize misunderstanding and promote
positive negotiation outcomes.
The concept of stereotyping and how to get beyond it will also
be covered. The tools
provided can also be applied to a broader array of cross-cultural
situations in the practice of law,
including those involving lawyers and clients of color, women,
race, religion, and sexual
orientation. You will come away with practical tips on how to
get beyond bias through tested
intercultural frameworks, and useful lessons learned in
