Gerald Wilhelm, Assistant US Attorney, Department of Justice and Joan Humes, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Litigation and Investigations Medtronic will discuss how to navigate misconceptions about their respective clients that can significantly impair the ability to negotiate reasoned resolutions of health care fraud matters.  For all practitioners in this arena, it can be critical to identify and acknowledge fundamental assumptions about “the other side.”  The speakers will consider questions like:

What are the common barriers to resolving health care fraud enforcement matters?

How can attorneys help bridge those barriers, while remaining zealous advocates for their clients?

When does it make sense for both parties in a health care fraud action to find common ground?

What circumstances might require traditional adversarial positions to best serve both parties in health care fraud matters?

A hot breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 a.m. followed by the CLE program from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m.  Special meal requests need to be received no later than Monday, January 27.
