This presentation will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision in Vance v. Ball State University , 133 S.Ct. 2434 (2013), where the court analyzed who qualifies as a "supervisor" for purposes of vicarious liability under Title VII.  The presenters will discuss the case and its implications, including:

-  A review of the factual background and the Court's legal analysis;

-  A review of the standard applied by the Eighth Circuit and Minnesota federal courts prior to and after the Court's decision.

-  An examination of whether Vance will have any impact on claims brought pursuant to the Minnesota Human Rights Act;

-  A discussion on how Vance may impact your practice going forward- in both case selection and how you advise clients.

Registration will begin at 11:30am.  The program will begin at 12:00pm.

This is a brown bag session.  Feel free to bring your own lunch.  Dessert and beverages will be provided.
