About MSBA

Corporate Counsel Section

With more than 450 members, the Corporate Counsel Section (“CCS”) ranks among Minnesota’s most influential attorney organizations. It was formed in 1989 (as the “Corporate Counsel Association of Minnesota”) by Minnesota corporate attorneys to provide members with the opportunity to build contacts, improve their legal knowledge, and learn from high-profile speakers, community members, and politicians. CCS members practice in corporate legal departments and private law firms.

Section Benefits and Activities

There are numerous benefits to membership in the CCS. Some of these benefits include reduced rates for Section-sponsored continuing legal education (“CLE”) programs, invitations to Section events and annual meetings and other networking opportunities with CCS members and other MSBA Section members. Section members are also invited to attend Section Council meetings.

CCS's noon-time CLEs take place over the lunch hour at the MSBA offices on the third floor of the Minneapolis City Center. These events provide high-quality CLE programs on current, cutting-edge topics, while offering speakers access to an audience of Minnesota's select corporate attorneys. A wide variety of speakers have presented to our members, including: Jeffrey Toobin, Roger Magnuson, Marko Mrkonich, Andy Ubel, Tom Heffelfinger and David Gergen. While topics are normally related to law, other subjects have been addressed.

Corporate Counsel Section Mission Statement:

To provide section members with the opportunity to build their professional relationships with corporate legal departments and private law firms, improve their legal knowledge and offer legal services to the community.

The CCS provides these services through continuing legal education seminars held by high-profile speakers and community leaders, community-oriented fundraising events, social/networking gatherings and outreach programs.
